In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Countryman SE’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Gravity doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

The Countryman SE has standard Assist eCall, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Countryman SE and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Countryman SE’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Gravity’s (12 vs. 10 years).

MINI pays for scheduled maintenance on the Countryman SE for 1 year and 12000 miles longer than Lucid Motors pays for maintenance for the Gravity (3/36,000 vs. 2/24,000).

There are over 5 times as many MINI dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Countryman SE’s warranty.

The MINI Countryman SE may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Gravity.

The Countryman SE is 1 foot, 11.2 inches shorter than the Gravity, making the Countryman SE easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Countryman SE is 6.1 inches narrower than the Gravity, making the Countryman SE easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Countryman SE’s rear seats recline. The Gravity’s middle row seats don’t recline.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Countryman SE’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by waving your foot, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Optional Trailer Stabilization Control on the Countryman SE uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Gravity doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Countryman SE has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

If the windows are left open on the Countryman SE the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Gravity can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Countryman SE has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Countryman SE’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the Countryman SE with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Gravity’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Countryman SE’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Countryman SE has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.
